The discussion ended with several important outcomes. For improving the conditions and implementing FS&H standards the administration of the Batumi Agrarian Market will start drafting the project with the facilitation of ALCP AJ programme and with involvement of key stakeholders of Regional Government. The trainings for the market traders and small scale livestock producers on FS&H will be also carried out and media resources involved to increase awareness of the population on these issues.
As Batumi agrarian market is the main supplier for the HoReCa sector and Ajara is a tourist destination with a booming tourism sector, the potential for the supply of safe quality livestock products to the mass market lies in the growing scale of the market and the need for quality food for the HoReCa segment which bolsters the image of a quality tourist destination.
