Threads of Connection: Georgian Silk Association Joins Facebook

In January 2025, the newly established Georgian Silk Association (GSA) launched its official Facebook page  with the goal of connecting stakeholders in the silk industry, supporting silk cocoon production, and raising awareness about the sector. It also seeks to revive the stories and emotions that remain deeply rooted in Georgian culture, transforming these intangible legacies into something tangible.

The Facebook page is still new, with around 160 followers and posts reaching up to 10,000 viewers, receiving positive feedback. As spring approaches, the page’s activity will increase, playing a significant role in promoting silk production during the rearing season with the involvement of rural farmers in at least four regions of Georgia.

The ALCP2  helped establish the Georgian Silk Association, which serves as an essential support  for rural farmers, providing access to silkworm eggs, enhancing production, and increasing awareness of the sector.

The ALCP2 implemented by Mercy Corps Georgia, is funded by the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) in cooperation with the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and Sweden.
