German Bio Tour to Ajara
The Jara Beekeepers Association (JBA) hosted a tourist group from Germany led by a German agro ecological specialist, who first came across Jara honey at BIOFACH 2023 in Nuremberg where Nena Ltd a Georgian brand honey was showcasing its honey. He subsequently designed an agro-cultural tour. The group of fourteen German tourists, who included a number of beekeepers visited the apiary of a bio certified JBA member in Keda municipality. The JBA chairman introduced the association and Jara beekeeping whilst showing the hives and the associations processing facility followed by a tasting. Opportunities to link the association to commercial opportunities in Germany were discussed.
The specialist who is an employee of the state of Hesse, has been involved in various organic farming projects in Georgia and helped author a country report on organic agriculture in 2021. Please seethe post of the visit ‘Klänge Georgiens’.
